Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Training
GD&T is the symbolic language used on engineering drawings to define allowable variation in part geometry. When your engineers, machinists, and inspectors all read prints the same way, quality improves and parts fit the first time. Tennessee MEP delivers hands-on GD&T workshops at two levels for manufacturing teams across Tennessee.
Course Levels
From Foundations to Advanced Application
Level 1
Introduction to GD&T
Foundations for reading and applying prints
This introductory workshop builds a strong foundation. Participants learn to:
- Explain the history, purpose, and benefits of GD&T
- Define datums and how they establish part reference frames
- Interpret feature control frames, including tolerance symbols, material condition modifiers, and datum references
- Apply true position tolerancing through hands-on exercises
One-day instructor-led workshop
Level 2
Advanced GD&T
Profile, runout, and tolerance stack-up analysis
Building on Level 1, this advanced workshop covers the controls and analysis methods used on complex parts. Participants learn to:
- Apply profile of a line and profile of a surface tolerancing
- Specify circular runout and total runout controls
- Work with composite and multiple-segment position tolerances
- Calculate bonus tolerance and datum shift
- Perform worst-case and statistical tolerance stack-up analysis
- Translate GD&T callouts into inspection and gauging plans
One-day instructor-led workshop · Level 1 or equivalent recommended
