Tennessee Manufacturing Extension Partnership Teams Up Across the State to Celebrate Manufacturing Day 2025

On Friday, October 3, the Tennessee Manufacturing Extension Partnership (TMEP), a program housed within the University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services, joined with partners across the state to celebrate Manufacturing Day, a nationwide event that highlights the importance of manufacturing and inspires the next generation of makers.

From East to West Tennessee, TMEP team members participated in events designed to connect students, community leaders, and industry professionals with the exciting world of modern manufacturing.

East Tennessee: Inspiring Future Innovators in Knoxville

In East Tennessee, IACMI—The Composites Institute hosted students from Maryville High School at the University of Tennessee’s Innovation South location. The event featured a metal sandcasting demonstration, giving students a hands-on look at advanced manufacturing processes.

UT CIS Solutions Consultant Harold Booker attended and shared insights about UT CIS, TMEP, and the many opportunities available in Tennessee’s manufacturing sector. Enrique Macias de Anda from UT CIS also joined the event, engaging directly with students and encouraging them to explore manufacturing career paths.

West Tennessee: Celebrating Manufacturing in Memphis

In West Tennessee, TMEP participated in a Manufacturing Day celebration at Morgan Steel in Memphis, held in collaboration with the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce.

The event featured remarks from Jeanette Jones of the Greater Memphis Chamber, Angela Massey of Morgan Steel, and Gwyn Fisher of the Memphis Chamber, culminating with a keynote address by Memphis Mayor Paul Young.

UT CIS Solutions Consultant Bernadette Fuller was recognized as a key contributor to the success of this event. Local high school students attended and enjoyed guided tours of Morgan Steel’s facility, gaining a first-hand look at real-world manufacturing careers.
