TMEP Celebrates Their First Year of the Executive Peer Group

tmep executive peer group

On August 15, we celebrated the 1 year anniversary of our Executive Peer Group with a visit from Brian Lentz, Assistant Coach for the UT Men’s Basketball Team. He spoke about the challenge of recruiting and retention as it relates to players and employees.

Coach Lentz mentioned the key to retention is relationships. It is key with players and employees to stress that It’s Not About Me (INOM), but about the greater purpose of the team or the organization. It is important to bring on good people that are talented but that also are good fits within the existing organization.

Ultimately, good communication is the key to keeping people involved and feeling connected. We also need to let people take on leadership roles to grow and give them room to learn through that process.

The Executive Peer Group is made up of several distinguished leaders of  medium-sized manufacturers in East TN. It is led by noted author and former manufacturing executive Ashleigh Walters. Ashleigh has recently moved back to East Tennessee after 20 years with Onex, Inc. in Erie, PA, ultimately serving as president there from 2013 until 2022. The group will meet monthly for the upcoming year, gaining exposure to executive leadership development and valuable peer group interaction. Each meeting is carefully curated to energize, inspire, and strengthen participant leadership skills. We are still accepting manufacturing leaders to join this year's cohort.
