Becoming an APEX Accelerator client has been one of the best decisions we have made as a business, and we are grateful for their continued support. We are thankful for the knowledge and background of the APEX Accelerator counselors. Their expertise has helped us provide fast and reliable services to our government.

W&T Contracting Corporation is a minority-owned construction firm based out of Memphis, Tennessee. The company was founded in 2000 by Willie Richards. Following his retirement in 2011, his twin sons Wiley and Terrell Richards took over the business and have continued to run it and expand the offerings of the company throughout the mid-south.

Wiley and Terrell attended a PTAC (now known as the APEX Accelerator) webinar on Federal Government Contracting and then began working with APEX Accelerator Counselor Veronica Clark in early 2022. Clark guided them through the process of applying for 8(a) certification, updating their Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) and System for Award Management (SAM) profiles as well as working with them on their Capability Statement.

In September 2022, W&T was awarded a $1,000,000 contract with Tristate Arniture. In December of that same year, the company was awarded a $425,000 contract with Landmark. The brothers attribute much of their success in competing in the government marketplace to their experience with the APEX Accelerator. As clients, they have participated in several professional networking and training opportunities in addition to their one-on-one counseling sessions with Clark.

According to Terrell Richards, “Becoming an APEX Accelerator client has been one of the best decisions we have made as a business, and we are grateful for their continued support. We are thankful for the knowledge and background of the APEX Accelerator counselors. Their expertise has helped us provide fast and reliable services to our government.”

When asked what they would say to other small businesses that are considering engaging with the APEX Accelerator, Terrell says, “We are passionate about APEX’s mission to maximize opportunities for small business professionals and hope to see other businesses benefit from this great opportunity.”
